Cotillard to star in new Dardennes
Wild Bunch is selling upcoming production due to shoot in Belgium this summer.
French actress Marion Cotillard has signed to star in the Dardenne brothers’ upcoming feature Two Days, One Night (Deux jours, une nuit), about a young woman who has to convince her colleagues to renounce their annual bonuses so she can keep her job.
Denis Freyd’s Paris-based production company Archipel 35, which is co-producing the film alongside Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne’s Liege-based Les Films du Fleuve, announced the film in a statement on Monday.
Cotillard will play Sandra, who “helped by her husband, has only a weekend to track down her colleagues and convince them to renounce their bonuses so she can keep her job”.
The film is based on an original screenplay by the Dardenne brothers.
Belgian actor and long-time Dardennes collaborator Fabrizio Rongione (The Kid with a Bike, Lorna’s Silence, Rosetta) will co-star as Sandra’s husband.
Paris-based sales powerhouse Wild Bunch is selling the picture which will shoot this summer in Belgium.
